Perseid Meteor Shower

In a lot of ways I never grew up. I'm fascinated by boats, cars, and trains and I love to read comics. I was fascinated by the world around me, and as I grew up, rather than become numb to it, I only found more things to be fascinated by! The night sky is an amazing thing to behold, and a good night of stargazing often is a great adventure. It's an excuse to get out of the city and find somewhere secluded. Awesome.

The night of August 11th marked the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and naturally it required a viewing party. So I gathered up a couple friends from the U district and headed out. Thankfully, the Seattle summer is very kind in early August. With the top off of the 4runner and not a cloud in site, we loaded up 6 people (one in the bed, hiding in the blankets)  and headed out around midnight, arriving just before 1.

We were met up there by another friend, and after driving down the dirt road a bit, lined up the 4runner exactly with the power lines giving us an unobstructed view of the night sky. With all the seats down, it was like being in the back of a pickup. Then a couple big blankets and some snacks made for a fine night.
